adventures in knitting, clever girl, crafty business

SNKR

Jesspants here, dropping by with your friendly neighborhood Sunday Night Knitting Report (SNKR).  I’ve got a crafty ladies post-holiday season holiday gathering coming up in a few weeks, and I thought I’d try my hand at making cute, cuddly creatures.

lop-eyed

he’s a little…lop-eyedplace of honor

but I like him anyway.

This owl is going to live with me.  I’m not quite sure what his name is yet, but I’ve given him a home on top of my shelf.  Lonely he shall never be, what with Kari’s hedgehog (called Harold), Corin’s kiwi (called Bruce), Brandy’s buffalo chicken, and a random assortment of other friends keeping him company.

He’s not quite as polished as the ones showcased in the original pattern, but I’d be willing to bet that she had a couple of lumpy looking ones before she got the hang of it.  Owl Puffs will be a great way to use up some of the myriad of scrap yarn I’ve got lying about the house, and they are really easy to transport, too!

DK really likes trying on my finished knits…

Lo and behold, I have finished the mittens and the scarf.  This was my first pair of mittens, and I think they turned out FABULOUSLY.  I love the shape, the style, and the finished product – they really turned out just about perfect.  The variegated yarn made for a beautiful pattern all around.

The scarf was wrapped up in a little less than a month.  The mittens, on the other hand, have been a work in progress since November.  Ten minutes here, half an hour there, and at least two weeks where they were finished save for one thumb, I finally buckled down and finished them last night.

All in all, this was a very productive knitting week.  I can’t wait to give Mom her birthday present!

On that note, I’m off to have a bath, a mani-pedi, and some yoga before bed.

Anyone out there finish a project over the weekend?  Pics or it didn’t happen!
