Sunday Night Knitting Report

Thanks to a purposefully chill weekend, I’m making some wicked sweet progress on this drop stitch scarf. (It goes with Mom’s mittens!)

I’m pretty stoked by how well it’s going – it’s a new technique for me, so I was nervous that it wouldn’t turn out. Reports cannot confirm or deny a couple of rows being torn out and redone…but by and large, it’s smooth sailing.

My favorite part of this pattern is how simple it is. I tend to go for mindless hours of garter stitch so I can zone out over some hokey (but awesome) sic-fi and a cup of tea. The drop stitch scarf also has the benefit of the end result looking a lot more complicated than it is. Bonus points for fanciness!

At present moment, I’m about a third of the way done. If I knit on the bus every day, I bet I could have it done by next Sunday.

Technically, Mom’s birthday isn’t until the end of February, but it is winter here in MN. Besides, I’m horrible at waiting to give gifts until a special occasion. The anticipation kills me, and I usually get/make things that a person can use right away. I can’t wait to finish this scarf up so I can give her the set! It will look fab with her red coat.
